The Greek Softball Federation is pleased to announce the list of athletes who have been selected to the 2017 Women’s National Team Athlete Pool. In 2017, the Women’s National Team will compete at the European Championships in Bollate, Italy, from June 25 to July 1, and the ISF Jr Women’s World Championship, which will take place from July 24 to 30, 2017 in Clearwater, USA. The team`s 2017 schedule will be finalized at a later date.

ESF Secretary General Ami Baran met with Kostis Liarommatis, President of the Hellenic Softball Federation [under the auspices of the Hellenic Gymnastic Federation] for meetings with the Hellenic Olympic Committee President and Secretary General as well as with the General Secretary of Sports Ministry in Greece.
The Greek Women’s National Softball Team completed its 2016 season competing in the 15th Women’s World Championship in Surrey, B.C. Canada and finished 19th among 31 nations. This was Greece’s 2nd World Championship appearance after its participation in China in 2006.
The Greek Women’s National team will travel to Canada to compete in the 2016 Women’s World Championships held in Surrey, BC, Canada. This will be Greece’s second participation in World Championships 10 years after competing in China and placing 9th in the competition.
The Women’s U22 National Team travelled to Pardubice, Czech Republic in July to compete in the U22 European Championships. The team had high hopes on improving their 3rd place finish in the previous U22 Championships. A difficult task as they faced some of the top European Softball Nations.
The Greek Women’s U22 National team will travel to the Czech Republic to compete in the 2016 European U22 Championship in Pardubice. The tournament will be held July 4-9, 2016. Our team placed 3rd in the previous Championship held in Bulgaria and hopes this year to improve on that success.
Kostis Liarommatis met with Dr. Thomas Bach (President of IOC) and Mr. Capralos Spiridon (President of HOC) in the lighting of the Olympic Flame “Rio 2016” on April 21 in Ancient Olympia, where they had an extremely constructive debate on the new sport of Olympic Games Softball.
This tournament is an early-season women’s fastpitch event that will be held on the weekend of April 9-10, 2016 at the Elliniko softball field.
This brand-new one day tournament is a great opportunity for players to compete and teams to prepare for the 2016 softball season.
The Greek Softball Federation President Kostis Liarommatis had the opportunity to meet the Major League Baseball Vice President and New York Yankees General Manager Joe Torre at a recent convention in Las Vegas Nevada.
The Greek Softball Federation is proud to announce Jimmy Kolaitis as the Women’s National Team Technical Advisor! Mr. Kolaitis is currently the Assistant Coach at the University of Oregon. Kolaitis helped the Ducks to Pac-12 titles and Women’s College World Series appearances in both 2014 & 2015.
